Music everywhere overflowing – it’s amazing!, even more when you encounter the great Exceptions, so unique, that you forget anything else. Such a magical music is present in Allen Toussaint’s Bright Mississippi.

Toussaint plays the Piano (and sings the Long, Long Journey) – but the Formula is completed  by all the musicians – Don Byron (Clarinet), Nicholas Payton (Trumpet), Marc Ribot (Acoustic Guitar), David Piltch (Upright Bass), Jay Bellerose (Drums and Percussion) – with special guests Brad Mehldau (Piano on Winin’ Boy Blues) and Joshua Redman (Saxophone on Day Dream).

There is power in the subtlety and limitless space in the intensity of this reading of well known classics (Ellington, Armstrong, Thelonious Monk… – whose song became also the title of the album) – extracting the deepest soul and spirit of New Orleans.

The Tracks: 01 Egyptian Fantasy / 02 A Dear Old Southland / 03 St. James Infirmary / 04 Singin’ the Blues / 05 Winin’ Boy Blues / 06 West End Blues / 07 Blue Drag / 08 Just a Closer Walk with Thee / 09 Bright Mississippi / 10 Day Dream / 11 Long, Long Journey / 12 Solitude
