Yesterday night I was with friends at Herodes Atticus Odeon in Athens, where Daniel Barenboim and the Filarmonica della Scala played the 3rd piano concerto of Beethoven and Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique.
The audience was listening in solemn silence and it was very warm and welcoming. Excluding the second movement of the Symphonie, which was played somehow fast, everything else was great. Perhaps in the next days I will post here some excerpts, if the recording is good enough. For the moment, here is Barenboim together with Rattle playing Brahms’ first piano concerto, in Athens – another great performance, as you shall see:
