Bruch is mainly known for his violin works (in Germany rather for his choral works) – yet, these little trios for clarinet, piano and viola (sometimes performed with cello instead of the viola), are gems you wouldn’t like to miss. In the performance that I have in mind Henk de Graaf plays the clarinet along with Itamar Shimon and Daniel Wayenberg in the piano and viola. The recording is warm and clear, featuring a great dynamic range that fits with the lively performance of the trio.
